E-Learning
AR+VR: new knowledge

E-mobility not only requires vehicle manufacturers to embrace novel ways of thinking and new knowledge. This also applies to downstream processes and services such as call centers, breakdown services, and repair shops because the high-voltage technology is potentially life-threatening.

HiVo, DEKRA’s digital high-voltage training program, delivers the necessary knowledge. Via a web-based app, participants can use short self-study modules to learn all about working with and on high-voltage vehicles (electric, hybrid, and hydrogen). Self-study is accompanied by classroom-based training in which students are able to carry out specific process steps on high-voltage vehicles using virtual reality.

The training program is localized for the respective market and can be used on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Thanks to the many language variants and global approach, the program is also of interest to international companies.

HiVo enables them to train their employees to a uniform standard, something valued by Allianz Partners. The subsidiary of Allianz SE, responsible for roadside assistance, aims to roll out the digital high-voltage training program in more than 20 countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, India, and Japan.

New learning formats

DEKRA does not just use innovative digital options to provide safe training about new means of mobility, but also remains focused on safety in day-to-day transportation processes.

Here, virtual reality (VR) allows an entirely new approach to teaching how to safely load and unload fuel, for example. Spills and inadvertent mixing are among the most frequent errors when handling gasoline and diesel. These types of mistakes are not just time consuming and costly; they also present a risk to the environment.

The “Spill Prevention” training module uses VR to raise tanker drivers’ awareness of errors and risks, both when loading the tanker at the depot, as well as around equipment at the gas station. In a virtual environment, drivers are familiarized with all safety-relevant activities, without endangering them at all.

The training can be performed either remotely or at the customer’s training center. Oil companies such as TotalEnergies appreciate that the DEKRA solution enables training scenarios to be adapted to meet customers’ specific needs and that the training provides learning options that are not possible in a real-world environment.
