DEKRA North America was recognized by OmniAir as an authorized test laboratory for certifying toll system interoperability. The laboratory in Sterling, Virginia/USA, can now offer independent and accredited laboratory tests for RFID technologies, including vehicle transponders and scanners, which are used by authorities and the operators of toll stations and toll bridges in North and South America.
DEKRA, the global number one in vehicle inspection, has opened its first inspection station in Chile. Its plan is to add four further stations in the metropolitan region of the capital, Santiago, and five in other regions of the country before the end of this year.
“With 27 million inspections each year, DEKRA inspects more vehicles than any other organization,” says Christoph Nolte, Head of DEKRA’s Vehicle Inspection Service Division. “Today, we are active in this area in 22 countries, from Sweden to South Africa and from the USA to China.” The most recent addition is Mexico, where the first DEKRA exhaust gas testing station opened in January 2021.
The first vehicle testing station operated by DEKRA in Mexico opened in 2021. The global number one plans to open five more exhaust gas testing stations in Guadalajara, the country’s second largest city, creating around 240 new jobs. These stations are an important element in the state’s “Jalisco Respira” (Jalisco Breathes) program, which aims to reduce emissions and improve air quality.
